FCA India to set up a Global Digital Unit in Hyderabad

  To create 1,000 new IT jobs by the end of 2021 - Will be the largest digital hub outside North America and MEMA zones Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced its plans to establish a global digital unit in the city of Hyderabad. With this initiative, the car manufacturer pledges on investing $ 150 million on building and developing the facility adopting emerging technology and digitalizing all its operations.  The digital hub named as ICT India, will be the brand’s largest such centre outside of North America and EMEA region.   - Altroz Turbo to make 110bhp from its 1.2-litre motor - Will be offered with a seven-speed DCT automatic - Expected to be launched in India in early 2021 Tata Motors is set to launch the Altroz Turbo in India, which will be powered by a Tata Nexon-sourced 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor. But, besides the Altroz Turbo, Tata Motors will also introduce an automatic transmission option in the premium hatchback. The latter was recently spied for the first time. The automatic gearbox in the Altroz Turbo will be a seven-speed DCT unit.   Likely to be a 1.2-litre unit -Could be sold with the turbo tag A test mule of the Tata Tigor, with full camouflage, has been spotted doing the rounds and the latest word is that this could be a test vehicle for a turbo petrol version of the compact sedan. It is expected to be launched once the Altroz turbo petrol has arrived. The turbo engine in question is expected to be a 1.2-litre unit and will most likely produce 100Nm and 140Nm as compared to the naturally aspirated unit’s 84bhp/113Nm.   TKM reports 2.4 per cent Y-o-Y growth in sales -Bidadi plant lockout affects monthly production and sales Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced its sales report for the previous month of November. The car manufacturer has managed to record 8,508 unit sales in the festive month; thereby registering a 2.4 per cent growth over the same period last year. However, when compared to the monthly figures of 12,373 units in October, 2020, the company has suffered a slight dip in the overall monthly sales. The recent lockout due to strike by the labour union at the Bidadi plant in Karnataka explains the interrupted production and weak sales performance of the carmaker. TKM says that it has observed a 10-13 per cent rise in consumer orders and a subsequent 12 per cent increase in retail sales.  MG clocked a growth of 28.5 per cent Y-o-Y - The company launched the Gloster in October MG Motor India has reported retail sales of 4,163 units during November 2020, recording a growth of 28.5 per cent compared to the same period last year. The company continues to receive substantial bookings, with the Hector and Gloster clocking 4,000 and 2,500 bookings last month. The MG Hector brand, which includes models such as the Hector and the Hector Plus, witnessed a sale of 3,426 units in November 2020, reflecting a sales growth of six per cent, compared to the same period last year. The Gloster full-size SUV achieved a sale of 627 units in its first month after its launch, while the sales of the ZS EV stood at 110 units last month.   Green NCAP is an independent organisation that rates cars based on energy efficiency and emissions - Kona Electric is the second battery-EV from Hyundai’s stable to be awarded the maximum five-star rating, following the Hyundai IONIQ Electric in 2019 The Hyundai Kona Electric has been granted a five-star rating, the highest score possible, in the all-electric subcompact SUV segment from Green NCAP. The rating was based on three parameters; clean air, energy efficiency and greenhouse gases.  As a zero-emissions vehicle, the Hyundai Kona Electric received top marks for clean air and greenhouse gases. Likewise, it also ranked high on energy efficiency.   Hyundai Motor India exported 10,400 units last month - The company recorded a Y-o-Y growth of 9.4 per cent Hyundai Motor India recorded a domestic sale of 48,800 units, while the export numbers stood at 10,400 units. The cumulative sales figures for the month of November 2020 hence stands at 59,200 units. The past month also saw Hyundai registering its highest ever sales for the month of November. Hyundai India sold 44,800 units in November 2020, and compared to the same period last year, the company achieved a growth of 9.4 per cent.    Maruti Suzuki registers 1.7 per cent y-o-y growth in total sales  - The car manufacturer witnessed positive growth in OEM and export sales Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the largest car manufacturer of the country has logged a total sale of 153,223 units in November 2020. As against the sales records in November, 2019, the company has registered a growth of 1.7 per cent in the current year. Out of the total sales figures, the domestic sales accounted for 1,38,956 units and 5,263 units for OEMs. Additionally, the company posted export sales of 9,004 units. The sales chart of the company is broadly divided into Passenger Cars and Light Commercial Vehicles.   New Nissan Magnite will be offered in four variants and eight colours - The model will be offered with two powertrain and transmission options Nissan India is all set to launch the Magnite sub-four metre in the country tomorrow. The company had unveiled the Magnite concept earlier this year, followed by the reveal of the production ready model in October 2020.  Bookings for the Nissan Magnite have commenced on the official website and at all dealerships for an amount of Rs 11,000.  Feature highlights of the new Nissan Magnite include L-shaped LED DRLs, a large grille with chrome inserts on either side, LED headlamps, LED fog lights, roof rails, dual-tone alloy wheels, puddle lamps, and squared wheel arches.
